God’s Grand Game:

Divine Sovereignty and the Cosmic Playground

This is a 270-page book which I regard as my most significant contribution to the field of philosophical theology. It is the result of more than 10 years of study and reflection in relation to the divine sovereignty versus human free will problem. The book presents a thorough exposition of my philosophical perspective with reference to the Christian worldview and other views of God. The main premise of the book is that there is one God who is in control of everything that happens and He does whatever He pleases.

Christianity, Islam, and the One True God

This is a 240-page book which features a carefully selected collection of articles written by me between 2020 and 2022 on the subject of interfaith dialogue between Christianity and Islam. The book also includes a series of philosophical reflections related to the unity and sovereignty of God, as well as a section on spiritual encouragement.

The God Articles by Steven Colborne (book cover)

The God Articles

This 430-page book is a collection of dialogues, discourses, prayers, and poems, which I wrote between 2012 and 2020. The subject matter of the articles includes reflections on Christian doctrines such as sin, salvation, judgement, and hell, as well as deeply personal articles portraying some of the highs and lows of my spiritual journey since I wrote The Philosophy of a Mad Man.

The Philosophy of a Mad Man

In this 150-page book – the first book I ever wrote – I describe my turbulent spiritual journey (Part 1) and how I came to develop an extraordinary philosophical perspective (Part 2) that is causing many spiritual seekers to think deeply about the nature of God and the meaning of life. Originally published in 2012, this is a revised and updated version published in 2019.

A Collection of Essays by Steven Colborne (front cover)

A Collection of Essays by Steven Colborne

This 250-page book features twelve of my academic essays on a wide range of philosophical and theological subjects. One of the essays is my first-class undergraduate dissertation in which I present a radical approach to music analysis. In my theological essays, I discuss the views of several important philosophers from antiquity including Heraclitus, Plato and others. The views of contemporary theological writers including Karl Rahner, Karl Barth, Ludwig Feuerbach, George Eliot and others are also discussed.

An Almighty Predicament:
A Discourse on the Arguments For and Against Christianity

This is a 70-page essay in which I set out what I believe to be the most compelling arguments for and against the Christian worldview. Expounding testimony and citing Scripture, I present arguments explaining why the teachings of the Bible are convincing, but also discuss the reasons why Christianity can be seen as absurd and illogical.

Discovering the Quran by Steven Colborne cover

Discovering the Qur’an

This is an 80-page book in which I offer a series of theological reflections following my experience of reading the Qur’an in its entirety for the first time. The themes covered in the book include the nature of Jesus Christ, the oneness of God, resurrection and judgement, and various other discussions concerning the similarities and differences between the Qur’an and the Bible.

God Willing by Steven Colborne (cover)

God Willing:
Bringing Divine Sovereignty into Everyday Conversation

In this 85-page book, divided into fourteen short chapters, I present a series of reflections describing how our use of language might evolve to better reflect the reality of God’s sovereignty over all events — an idea at the heart of my philosophy.

Finding Your Balance by Steven Colborne (book cover)

Finding Your Balance:
The 10 Key Ingredients of a Happy Life

In this 50-page book, I offer insights and advice on how to live a happy and fulfilled life, drawing upon experiences I’ve had through my mental health, spiritual and work journey. The book allows readers to take stock of their lives and consider whether there are steps they can take to increase their happiness levels.

The Only Question You Ever Need Ask by Steven Colborne (cover)

The Only Question You Ever Need Ask

This 80-page essay represents the culmination of a theological predicament that I have wrestled with ever since I first began to take the Christian faith seriously. In the book, I describe the single question on which I believe faith in the Christian worldview hinges, and I explore and answer that question with reference to Scripture and renowned theologians.

  1. […] Bridges goes on to discuss God’s sovereignty over people, and states “…the concept of divine sovereignty over people seems to destroy the free will of humans and make them no more than puppets on God’s stage.” This should bring a smile to the face of anyone who is familiar with my own writings and philosophy, as I believe this is precisely the truth of the matter and we shouldn’t shy away from it! It seems to me that so many theologians come desperately close to admitting we have no free will, but shy away from ever stating this explicitly, because of the implications in terms of the key Christian message about human responsibility for sin. It has been clear to me for many years that even those things we do which might be considered sinful are under God’s control. We are those puppets. I have never read a theologian brave enough to admit it, as it means we have to look at the fall of man and the atoning sacrifice of Christ in a wholly new light (more about this in my book, Ultimate Truth: God Beyond Religion).
