Agony and Ecstasy

Speak Life EP by Steven Colborne (cover art)

Agony and Ecstasy is the name I use for solo work as a musician. I am due to release my first record as Agony and Ecstasy on 27 April 2026.

Titled ‘Speak Life’, the record is a five-track EP featuring pulsing electo-rock anthems and will be distributed digitally to all major music platforms with a physical release to follow later this year. You can preview the EP below and visit my SoundCloud page to learn more about the record and follow me if you would like to.

Marconi’s Voodoo

In case heavy metal is more your style, I’d like to share with you some recordings by a band I was in for many years. I started the band along with some school friends when we were in our late teens at secondary school in Oxfordshire, and we continued to make music through my time at university in London and beyond. We were a three-piece band: I played guitar and sang backing vocals, we had a bassist/lead vocalist named Snuffy and a drummer named Kev.

We drew influence from bands like Red Hot Chili Peppers, Rage Against the Machine and The Wildhearts, all of which were making music with passion, big riffs and incredible energy. We were very theatrical, crafting our own costumes which we wore on stage, and we were generally known for our energetic live shows as well as our powerful riff-infused rock music.

One of our accomplishments was winning a competition in Kerrang! magazine to support a band called Farse on a selection of UK tour dates which was an amazing experience. We went into the studio quite a few times and released quite a few EPs, including an untitled debut EP, Mirror Mirror, Nightmare and Aquarius.

In 2024, I compiled 12 of our best recordings into an album titled Revolution. The album can be streamed below.
