Self-Love Is Not Arrogance

Dear friends,

I still struggle with insecurities from my past.

After I became a Christian, I was so worried about thinking arrogant thoughts that I would catch, control, and suppress my thoughts whenever I anticipated they could be egotistical or arrogant.

God, in His goodness, has been helping me with this. He has been teaching me that it’s okay to think of myself as beautiful, for instance.

It’s a learning process letting thoughts of self-love flow freely, but when I do, it’s evident that there is nothing wrong with them. We have to be able to love ourselves in order to be at peace.

And if God loves us completely, shouldn’t we love ourselves completely?

  1. Only when we accept ourselves totally…strengths/virtues and weaknesses/sins…and know that our true beauty is from God…then we are free to view others through the same lens.
Thank you for reminding us of this❤️

    1. Thanks so much for commenting! I suppose sin is a whole issue in its own right, but I appreciate your desire for all-embracing acceptance!

  2. Thank you for sharing your heartfelt journey of self-discovery and growth. Your post beautifully illustrates the transformative power of God’s love and how it can help us overcome our insecurities and learn to love ourselves.

Your experience resonates deeply with the biblical teaching in Mark 12:31, “Love your neighbor as yourself.” This commandment implies that self-love is not only acceptable but necessary. How can we truly love others if we do not first love ourselves?

Your journey is a testament to the grace and goodness of God, who helps us see ourselves through His eyes – as fearfully and wonderfully made. It’s a powerful reminder that we are all works in progress, and with God’s help, we can learn to let go of our insecurities and embrace self-love.

Thank you for your vulnerability and for the encouragement your post brings.
