Where There Is Hardship, There Is Also Ease

It’s wonderful how God is most gracious in answering our prayers, even though it can at times seem as though our pleading goes unanswered. The key is to persist and remind oneself that God is listening and working everything together for good. His awesome power and knowledge means He knows best how to respond to our petitions and it seems to be the case that He is ceaselessly merciful in doing so.

There have been times in recent weeks when I have felt submerged under a weight of oppression. I think this is due to a combination of factors: difficult relationships, the mental health and housing systems in London, neighbours who do not know God, financial difficulties, and perhaps some unresolved trauma from my suicide attempt last year. But there’s a saying that occurs in the Qur’an: “Where there is hardship, there is also ease”. Praise God! For in the midst of the turmoil of difficult life circumstances, He brings times of peace and joy – and even some precious humour. There is always much to be thankful for.

On the subject of gratitude, thanks again for your responses to my request for your views about what divine justice means to you. I am intending to use these responses in an article introducing the subject and perhaps serving as an introduction to the book I’m working on. Please bear with me if writing the article takes some time, I want to do justice (no pun intended) to your thoughtful contributions so I am not rushing it.

The summer is nearly over. I always enjoy telling people how much I love changes in the weather and experiencing the progression from summer to autumn is something I’m excited about and relishing. Whatever challenges you’re facing in your life at this time, they will pass! Be sure to persevere prayerfully and keep trusting in the goodness of our Creator.

“and call upon me in the day of trouble; I will deliver you, and you shall glorify me.” (Psalm 50:15)

God bless

Steven
