The Fleeting Nature of Life

Hello friends,

I hope you’re all in good spirits. The weekend is here! 🎉

Actually, if truth be told, weekends are a double-edged sword for me at present. While on the one hand they are an opportunity to feel more relaxed, on the other hand they are often the time I feel most spiritually vulnerable as there tend to be a lot of parties in my area. It can be a case of ‘cling to Jesus and get through it’. But I have my weapons: A checklist of coping strategies, my Bible, my prayers, and the grace of God!

I’ve been trying to contact some Christian friends about meeting up this weekend and am hoping for the opportunity to go for a walk with someone in a local park over the weekend. I discovered that a dear friend in the faith is in hospital, so she has been in my prayers. Another of my friends is facing mental health related challenges. And I learned that the pastor who baptised me has now retired, which might explain why he hasn’t been in contact for some time. All of these things have served to make me conscious of how fleeting life is and how quickly things move on. This being so, I’m trying to keep my focus on Jesus and on things that matter.

This week, I contacted some of you directly about a book I’m working on. My aim with the book is to explore all of the difficult subjects related to divine justice in Christianity and other major world religions. As my research is in its early stages I don’t have a definitive structure for the book as yet. I’m doing preliminary reading, taking notes, and praying for the project to take shape. If I haven’t contacted you already and you would be interested in contributing a short piece for the book, please email me.

I regularly pray for everyone who follows this blog – that you would have peace and be blessed – and I know God hears every prayer.

Wishing you all a wonderful weekend.

Steven
