Yesterday I was brimming with ideas regarding content I would like to include in my work-in-progress book Divine Justice. But first things first, I need to do a lot of research.
The first book I’m tackling as part of my research is by the Islamic philosopher Murtaza Mutahhari. His book, which carries the same title as mine, offers a thorough discussion of divine justice from an Islamic perspective.
I’m feeling that for my book, I will include discussions of both the Abrahamic religions and Eastern religions, so it will be broader in scope than Mutahhari’s work.
I’ve read the opening chapters of Mutahhari’s book and the content is interesting and well presented, though the translation into English isn’t perfect. One thought that struck me today is the question of whether or not God has motives. Are motives uniquely human? There’s scope for an interesting discussion there.
I’m so glad to have begun work on my contribution to discussion surrounding the subject of divine justice. I am praying that the Lord guides my research and writing and that the book will be helpful. There’s a long way to go.
Do you believe God has motives? Feel free to leave a comment below with your thoughts. Thank you for reading!
