Extra Nos: Liberating Theology

I had been waking up every morning worried and doubting my salvation. I haven’t been able to go to church regularly in recent weeks, and despite reading from my One Year Bible every day, I was struggling on a deep level to have peace in my walk with God.

Although the Lord kept reassuring me, the terror of the prospect of hell kept filling me with dread and I have been so isolated that I haven’t had a Christian brother or sister who I could turn to to discuss my worries.

Last night, in the early hours of the morning, I was listening to music on shuffle and the song ‘Sola Fide’ by FLAME came on. The song is all about struggling with works-based salvation and the liberation that can be found in understanding salvation is a work of grace alone.

The tears flowed as I remembered that my salvation is a work of God and that it’s not something I have to earn through works. I felt the same kind of freedom I experienced when I first understood the Gospel and accepted the Lord Jesus as my Saviour.

The album ‘Extra Nos’ by FLAME is all about the liberation that the musician found after studying the theology of Martin Luther. The lyrical content of the album has given me a new yearning to study Biblical Theology and Lutheranism in greater depth, and I am praying for the opportunity to do so.

I slept soundly last night and woke up feeling a sense of peace, freedom, and optimism. Thanks be to God!

Praise God for the timely reminder of His grace and love! It’s amazing how He uses various ways to reassure us of our salvation, and in your case, the song ‘Sola Fide’ by FLAME was a powerful instrument of comfort. It’s beautiful how the lyrics spoke directly to your struggles and reminded you of the liberating truth of salvation by grace alone. Your testimony is a wonderful encouragement to others who may be struggling with similar doubts and fears. May your desire to study Biblical Theology and Lutheranism continue to grow, and may God provide opportunities for you to deepen your understanding of His Word. Rejoicing with you in the peace, freedom, and optimism that comes from knowing our salvation is secure in Him!”
