How Are You?

Dear friends,

It’s been a while since I last posted. Having recovered to large extent from my three spells in hospital last year, I’ve been looking to the future and trying to discern the will of God concerning what I should do for work.

If you could see my notebook, you’d have a giggle. I’ve been taking brainstorming to a new level. I sometimes brainstorm ideas to the point of exhaustion because I love the process of having and developing ideas. Getting thoughts down on paper helps a lot with uncertainty.

I think I’ve figured out a way forward. I was searching for jobs in the charity sector and have applied for a couple of positions. At the same time, I’m continuing to work as an eclecticist, which is the term I coined to describe my diverse creative activities (blogging, writing, video making, recording, etc).

I’m playing around with the idea of creating a subscription or membership website for the products that I’ve created. I will probably do further brainstorming related to that!

I’ve also experienced a resurgence in my affection for minimalism. I find inspiration watching videos by minimalists such as Fumio Sasaki, Ethan Freckles and Joshua Becker. I’ve done quite a lot of decluttering in recent weeks, including giving away clothes and tech-related items I don’t really need.

Reading the Bible every morning is such a joy. I highly recommend getting a One Year Bible if you don’t already own one. The daily readings take about 20 minutes and will ensure that you’re grounded each day in the things of God.

I’d love to hear from you! Feel free to leave a comment letting me know what you’re up to today.

God bless

Steven

  1. I wasn’t aware that you were in the hospital so frequently last year; I’m sorry to hear that, but glad you are recovering nicely! I like the idea of a brainstorming notebook. I journal, but I have a bad habit of self-editing to the point that I never just free-flow with some brainstorming and word-vomiting. It sounds like a healthy, cathartic thing to do! I’ve recently gotten back into WordPress, so I hope to stay up to date on the blogs that I’ve followed – such as yours. Looking forward to the next one!

    1. It is indeed cathartic! Do your journal on paper or using an app, out of interest? Welcome back to WordPress!

      1. I journal on paper. I have a couple bookshelves full of the journals I’ve filled up through the years. There’s just something about laying ink down on paper that makes my spirit happy. What about you?

        1. That is wonderful! I also have many notebooks from years gone by which I have kept. It’s really interesting revisiting them after a few years! I’m a big fan of Moleskine notebooks, they are quite expensive though. I discovered a sale section on their website last week which had some decent price reductions 🙂

          1. That’s awesome, I’ve heard a lot about Moleskine but never used them myself. They look very sleek! I discovered a brand called “Wholehearted Quiet Time” that makes large journals with sections for prayer, Scripture memory, Bible reading plans, goals and more, as well as a large section for journaling. That’s been my go-to brand to use lately!

            1. I googled Whoehearted Quiet Time. They look great! There must be a company out there who make bespoke notebooks, diaries, and journals?! If not, I think I have a new business idea!

  3. That’s fabulous you are having productive brainstorming sessions and enjoying the process! If you’re in the flow, you gotta just go with it. There are 31 chapters in the book of Proverbs, so reading 1 Proverb chapter a day has been beneficial for me when doing heavier Bible reading is tough.
