Good morning, dear friends,
In my Bible reading today I read about Saul being made king after the people of Israel rejected God because they wanted to be a kingdom like the nations around them.
Their behaviour demonstrated envy, which we know to be sinful. Coincidentally, in my reading from Psalms today the importance of thankfulness to God was strongly emphasised.
God doesn’t want us to envy others. He wants us to put Him first and to be thankful for the blessings He showers upon us every day.
In the Qur’an, it says that if we could count God’s blessings we could never take them all in.
A good way to thank God is to be mindful of Him throughout the day and to say thank you in prayer.
Yesterday, my mood was quite up and down and I was worried that the Friday night antics of my neighbours would cause me distress and upset.
However, God graciously gave me a lengthy undisturbed sleep and I awoke this morning at the perfect time, ready to embrace the day.
Thanks be to God.
Amen.
