Goodbye

When I saw your face
Felt your power
You won my heart.

You must have felt me.
But I honestly don’t know if you did.

Maybe the most hurtful part of all
Is that I must accept it was all in my mind.
Shameful!
Yet if you will never know how much I wanted you,
I am relieved.

If I had said the right thing,
You would have been mine.
How unbearable.

And now, just the memory
Of a night we spent together
Though apart
All in my stupid head.

Or was it?

Makes no difference now.
Goodbye, beautiful.
