Blogging Changes

Posted by

Hello friends of Perfect Chaos! This is a quick post in which I hope to solicit your feedback concerning my blogging schedule and your experience of the blog.

I have been posting four times a week, which has been wonderful. But keeping to this schedule has at times been stressful (self-imposed pressure, of course) and at the moment I’m juggling quite a lot of non-blogging-related activities that are fairly time-consuming. So I feel something needs to change.

I would like to be able to spend a bit more time reading your blogs, and interacting with you, rather than posting on my own blog so often. I get such a lot out of reading other people’s posts, and at the moment I don’t dedicate enough time to simply reading and enjoying the work of the blogging community.

Before I introduced my four-posts-a-week schedule, I was posting whenever the motivation struck, and there is obviously a lot more freedom in that approach. I’m tempted to embrace that freedom once more, but I’m keen to hear from you first. An alternative I’m considering is posting four times a month, keeping the same schedule but spreading it out.

Would you prefer me to post to a schedule or freely? What would you like to see more of, or less of, on this blog?Β Do you feel I post too often or not often enough? What are the things that you like about Perfect Chaos, and how can I improve?

If you have any constructive criticism (or positive feedback), now’s the time to voice your opinions, because I feel I want to take stock and reassess what I’m doing here, as we should all do periodically! This blog is important to me and I want it to be important to you too.

Thank you so much for your support – be sure to leave a comment below (or email me) with your thoughts!

Peace and blessings,

  1. I need to slowdown a lot because the stress is getting to me but, I feel as if I betray my followers if I do, LOL what do you think?
I find myself in a worse position then yours I think even if my activities are not many, it’s still too much and I must slow down for my own and my dog’s sanity. He wants to play my puppy!

    1. I’m supposed to be getting feedback, not giving it! haha πŸ˜‚I think it’s good to focus on quality over quantity. And also see what your subscribers like to read from you (as I’m trying to do here!). Thank you and God bless!

  2. I believe you should post when you can and feel that motivation. You shouldn’t feel stressed of posting a blog under schedule. After all it is your blog and yours to do as you please. I do like and read what you post. 😊 Supporting other bloggers is great!

  3. To be honest I haven’t been able to keep up with your frequent posts, and I’ve been feeling uncomfortable about this because your words are well worth reading!
So it’s a ‘yes’ from me to your idea of posting four times a month – this would give me the time to ‘read, mark, learn and inwardly digest…’

  4. Personally I like when I get a daily post from those I follow. Every other day at minimum. But that said, you’ve got to do what feels right and works best for you. I’m a voracious reader so I like lots to read. Maybe give the once a week thing a try and see if you like it. You can always adjust.

      1. 100, with about 11 of those of which post daily, 17 (including yours) that post 2-4 times a week, a handful that never post and I am thinking are no longer using WordPress, and with at least half that post sporadically or not predictably.

  5. The struggle is real! I admire your discipline in posting 4x per week! That is a pretty rigorous schedule. I try to post once a week, and I often fall very short of that. I share your dilemma of too many things competing for my time.
If you’re starting to feel like 4x/week is too much, don’t hesitate to ease it up to something that is more managable. You mentioned wanting to have time to read others’ stuff — that is great. I ebb and flow between reading (which helps me formulate my own content) and writing. As an occasional reader of your blog (can’t get to all of the posts, but I do read some), it makes no difference to me how often you post. If it is a subject I’m interested in, I’ll read it regardless of the frequency!

    1. Hey Summer! Really appreciate those thoughts. That’s some top notch advice right there! I follow some bloggers who only post once or twice a month and it doesn’t make me love their blogs any less πŸ™‚ In fact I kind of appreciate the breathing space. Thank you!

  6. I think you need to worry less about pleasing us and think about what is sustainable for you. If you feel you need to post weekly rather than several times a week then go with it. I like the variety of posts. I enjoy reading your posts on philosphy and also your Sunday thoughts, but again, be true to yourself and post what you like. I don’t think you will lose followers what every you decide. All the very best. πŸ™‚ Oh and by the way I am nominating you for a Song Lyric Quotes Challenge, if you want to take part. Up to you πŸ˜‰

    1. Thanks for you advice, Kristian! I’m glad you enjoy the variety, because sometimes I do wonder whether my focus is too broad. I’m glad you like my Sunday thoughts, I really enjoy writing those posts!

You’re nominating me for a Song Lyric Quotes Challenge?! Sounds kind of intriguing. I don’t normally do challenges or awards posts, but I’ll take a look at it! Thank you for thinking of me! πŸ™‚

  7. I just followed your blog yesterday and I was instantly hooked by your posts! You feeling this way probably means you need to adjust not the number of blogs you post but the amount of time you put into writing them. You might want to check out this link :

I am no expert and I only write on weekdays, mostly. I seldom read blog posts, too. So thanks for sharing about the importance of not neglecting the latter. I look forward to reading more of your posts. Will pray that you find that balance!

    1. Hey there! I’m sorry, I couldn’t find your name (the link didn’t work) but thank you so much for following! I’m really pleased that you’re enjoying my blog so far πŸ™‚

Thanks for link, some interesting tips there, although I think I would be super-stressed if I tried to blog like she does! I’m already pretty organised with my posts, but 4 a week would be my limit to avoid stress overload! πŸ™‚

Thanks for your prayers! Hopefully by God’s grace I’ll find the right balance, even if it takes some experimenting.

      Keep in touch! Steven
